StoryWorks is an in-school residency program designed to help children tell, hear and appreciate life-stories in the context of oral history.
The educational goals of the StoryWorks staff are:
- Extend the outreach of the StoryCorps national initiative by providing students and teachers with the opportunity and tools to solicit, present and archive life-stories of everyday Americans.
- Encourage strong listening, interviewing and conversation skills in young people
- Develop oral presentation skills through the use of storytelling
- Facilitate archiving of digital and video oral histories in community and school libraries
